For Principals & Faculty of Engineering Colleges Held on September 14, 2013 at Hotel La Marvella, South End Circle, Jayanagar 2nd Block, Bengaluru Organized jointly by Shruth & Smith Foundation, in association withVisvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and Academy for Creative Teaching
Leadership is a quality everybody wants to have, yet few people, including the experts, can even define it precisely. Everyone agrees that there is less of it than there used to be. We are in desperate need of more and better leaders, but like the whooping crane, it appears to be an endangered species!
Businesses, government agencies, non-profits, and educational organizations need leaders who can effectively navigate complex, changing situations and get the job done. At a time when the world is seeing unprecedented change, the leadership of educational institutions assumes great significance. The questions that need to be asked at the organizational level are: who do we have, what do they need to do, and are they equipped to do it?
To deliberate and debate on these questions and understanding the changing landscape of leadership, Shruth & Smith Foundation, in association with Visvesvaraya Technological University and Academy for Creative Teaching, organized Adhyapan 2013, for academic leaders from the field of Technical Education. It was organized for the second year in succession after a resounding success in 2012.
International Educationists, Prof. Des Hewitt, Professor of Teacher Education, National Teaching Fellow, University of Derby, UK and Dr. M. N. Ravishankar, Reader in Globalization and Emerging Markets, Loughborough University, UK were the lead speakers along with Dr. R. Natarajan, Former Chairman, AICTE and Dr. Gururaj Karajagi, Renowned Academician. It was a truly classic summit in educational leadership with the natural blend of the East and the West.
The objective of the Conference was to understand how to improve the quality of teachers in technical education, handling classroom challenges, the new era of technical education and the challenges involved, generate productive discussions and combine thoughts & ideas in new ways.
Representation from the Technical Institutions was overwhelming; about 100 delegates participated in the conference. It was good to note that the delegates were proactive in discussing issues related to their field.
